At Harvest House, our volunteers weekly serve foster children and listen to their stories. We try to comfort their pain of loss and try to heal their broken hearts. Their stories are told of abuse with broken bones, scars, and bruises; or of abandonment like being left for days without food; or neglect, with some children living in a home without water, power, education, and without anyone to love them. These are the children of our island that come from hard places. These children have names and everyone of them deserve the gift of Christmas. Harvest House Christmas Celebration is an event we use to give the gift of Jesus who brings true JOY to a foster child’s hurt world.
This Christmas Celebration, over 80 foster children came together to experience a night full of fun activities like decorating gingerbread houses, jumping on the bounce houses, eating a delicious catered dinner by the Rotary Club of Guam, shopping for toys and pjs, face painting, and playing carnival games. Harvest Baptist Church’ campus was all lit up with Christmas light for their Festival of Lights which was held the same night. This gave the foster children a night to remember. That’s a lot of Christmas lights to look at. The lights definitely added a fun Christmas cheer within their hearts.
Harvest House was so blessed by our community donating laundry baskets full of essentials to all our foster families. Everyone went away feeling blessed and full of good memories.
Every foster child needs Jesus. He is the One who brings healing and hope to all of life’s hurts. We are thankful to all who served and graciously gave to the foster children at this event. Our foster families thank you for standing for our most vulnerable children and wrapping your arms of support around the foster families.
